The floor of an apartment unit collapsed early Sunday after a large group of partygoers were jumping up and down at a student apartment complex in Denton.
The living room floor collapsed into a unit on the second floor about 1:45 a.m. at The Ridge at North Texas student apartments at 2700 Colorado Blvd.
Five to seven people were treated at the scene and released, Lahart said. There were no major injuries reported. The collapsed floor caused damage to water pipes, which started leaking.
At least 48 residents are displaced until the apartment management can get a structural engineer and a construction crew to certify the building is safe.
All residents told authorities they had a place to stay for the night. The apartment complex is working to find the residents a permanent solution.
