In the 20th century, radio and television allowed for the quick transmission of ideas and events around the globe. Then came the internet and social media which allowed individuals to quickly communicate, share and listen to others in an almost unlimited manner.
This freedom of the press and the ability to look around the internet is something the vast majority of us take for granted. After all, it doesn’t seem like a big deal that you can grab a newspaper anywhere, turn on a tv to watch any one of dozens of news channels or find answers to almost anything online – that’s just the way it is for us. The press, social media and the internet allows us to take in great deals of information, read opposing views, find new information and even post our own points of view.
